P&G Hygiene and Health Care has reported a 7.62% increase in revenue from operations during the first quarter compared to the same period last year, according to media reports. The company’s advertising and sales promotion expenses have surged by 25.5%, reaching Rs 104.4 crore in the quarter, contributing to a 14.6% rise in total expenses, totaling Rs 681.7 crore.
For the first quarter ending on September 30, the company recorded a 5% decline in profit. P&G follows a July-June financial year. The advertising and sales promotion expenses saw a significant increase, rising from Rs 83.2 crore in the previous year to Rs 104.4 crore in 2019.
Madhusudan Gopalan, Managing Director of Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd, commented on the company’s performance in a challenging macro-economic environment. He stated, “In a challenging macro-economic environment, our focus on raising the bar on superiority, improving productivity, and strengthening the organizational culture has enabled us to deliver sustained growth during the first quarter. We will continue to remain focused on these strategies in line with our aim to drive balanced sales and profit growth.”
The feminine care business of the brand achieved double-digit growth in the quarter, and the health care business outpaced the market, as reported by the company.
